Krista M. Carman
Location: Prescott, Arizona
Krista graduated from Northern Arizona University in 1998 with a B.S. in
Elementary and Special Education. She was a special education teacher
and then left the field to study law. She graduated from ASU College of
Law and was admitted to the Arizona State Bar in January 2003. Krista
first practiced in Phoenix and then moved to Prescott in 2004. She has
been practicing plaintiff's civil litigation since 2003. A large portion
of her practice is devoted to serious injury and wrongful death matters.
She has successfully litigated civil rights violations resulting in a
wrongful death or catastrophic injury.
Krista also has represented individuals who have been discriminated in
an employment situation or terminated wrongfully. She has litigated insurance
coverage disputes in auto, home and general liability policies. She is
admitted to both State and Federal Court in Arizona. She is an executive
board member of the Arizona Trial Lawyers Association and a member of
the Northern Arizona Women's Lawyers Association. She is also a member
of the State Bar Fee Arbitration Committee and a former member of the
Supreme Court Appellate Appointments Commission and the Committee for
Civil Justice Reform.
Additionally, Krista does civil appellate work. She has successfully appealed
a number of cases and participated in many oral arguments at the Arizona
Court of Appeals and the Supreme Court of Arizona.
As a spinoff of her personal injury practice, Krista has been retained
numerous times to represent victims of crime including the families of
homicide victims, assault victims, dog attack victims and drive-by shootings.
Finally, Krista has realized her full circle goal of practicing school
law. School law is really culmination of all areas of law as schools operate
as their own entities facing employment, personal injury, real estate,
contracts and tax issues. Krista and her husband and law partner, André
currently represent the local school district for some of their legal needs.
Krista was born in New Brunswick, Canada but was raised in Mesa, Arizona.
She is married with five children. She enjoys traveling with her family,
being active outdoors and in the gym, playing games and reading.
